The 500 million year old Karas Mountains created a soil over millions of years, a rich red scale soil through harsh climate conditions and erosion. Watering with groundwater, rich in micro minerals, combined with this unique soil, created the ideal conditions for the cultivation of wine grapes and wine making. 

This similar soil is found in France, where the finest and most popular wines have their origins. 

Situated next to the "Lost City" of the Nama (Khoisan) People. With the arrival of the White Settlers during the late century, these indigenous People were pushed Northwards, but they offered resistance and fierce battles took place in and around this area. After a battle the Nama people vanished and took shelter in this Ancient City. not easily reachable and nearly invisible.
